Homemade Apple Cider

Homemade Apple Cider

Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats Homemade Apple Cider on a cool fall/winter day! NOTHING!
There's something so comforting about that warm apple taste, it just makes you want to sit down and drink the whole pot!

Ingredients:

6 lb apples (between 15-20 depending on the size of the apples)
2-3 cinnamon sticks
7-8 cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
maple syrup to taste (if you want it sweeter)

Homemade Apple Cider Recipe

1. Remove the cores from the apples and cut them into quarters.

2. Add all the apples to a large pot with about 4 inches of water.

3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 2 hours.

4. Pour the entire pot through a fine strainer to remove all the apple peels. Add liquid to pot again.

5. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, and syrup (if desired) to the pot. Bring to a boil again.

6. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 30 minutes, then remove cloves and cinnamon sticks.

7. Serve warm!

*This recipe will leave some apple "pulp" in the mixture. If you want this removed, simply strain a second time either using cheesecloth, or a coffee filter!
